Google Announces 2008 Sydney Developer Event

Google Developer Day Event in Sydney Will Focus on Building Great Web Apps and Advancing the Web as a Platform

SYDNEY, Australia – April 22, 2008 – Google (NASDAQ: GOOG) today announced a new developer event for 2008: Google Developer Day, a one-day, in-depth gathering for developers to share knowledge about Google’s own developer products and web application development in general. Google Developer Day will be held at Wharf 8, Sydney on Wednesday, June 18th 2008, and is free to attend.

"Last year’s Developer Day in Australia was a tremendous success, as it brought together developers from across Australia, and started a conversation we’re excited to continue in June," said Alan Noble, head of engineering for Google Australia and New Zealand. "In the past year, the web has evolved to be a more open and collaborative platform, and Australian developers have pushed us to expect new and greater things from our experience on the web. Our upcoming Developer Day is an opportunity for the Australian developer community to learn about these innovations, to place our Australian developments in a global context, and to continue building a web that is open and useful to developers and users alike."
