SYDNEY, Australia – October 30, 2006 – Google Inc. (NASDAQ: GOOG) today announced the winners of the Google 2006 Australia Anita Borg Scholarship. The Google 2006 Australia Anita Borg Scholarship was established to honour the legacy of Anita Borg and her efforts to encourage women to pursue careers in computer science and technology. The award is a A$5,000 scholarship for outstanding female undergraduate and postgraduate students completing their degrees in computer science or related fields.

This is the first year Google has extended its sponsorship of the scholarship program with the Anita Borg Institute for Women and Technology to students in Australia. The program has run in the U.S. for three years.

"We are thrilled to award these scholarships to some of the brightest young women studying in technical fields today," said Lars Rasmussen, Head of Engineering, Google Australia.
